Michael Denzel

Mike has been actively involved in the sport of basketball for 30+ years as a player, coach and professional manager. He played Division 1 college ball at Yale in the mid-80’s followed by 3 years of semi-pro ball in Germany. Mike worked 12 years for the NBA, the last 7 as head of Asia, where he led the league’s push into China.

Still an active player today, Mike switches between point and shooting guard, and loves to run the break. He is a big fan of the Phoenix Suns and Steve Nash, and has patterned the FastBreak program, including our name, after their exciting, fast-paced style of basketball.

Among the many hats he wears at FastBreak, Mike also coaches across all three programs.

Mike has lived overseas for more than 20 years, including stops in Heidelberg, (Germany), Geneva, Paris and Hong Kong. He was born in Chicago in 1964.

Trish Johnson

Coach Johson has been playing and coaching basketball for over 25 years.  She was a Division I player at Columbia University in New York, followed by a short semi-pro stint in Portugal.  She has coached at every level, from minis to college and has enjoyed all of it.

Under Trish's direction, players will learn sound fundamental skills.  At the same time, she takes a no-nonsense approach to practices, as her players will attest. Whether U10 girls or High School boys, she’ll have them on the line running sprints if their focus and attention wander too far.

Trish currently is the Middle School Psychologist at SAS and coaches the SAS JV Boys High team.  She has been in Singapore since Summer 2007.  The Pawtucket, Rhode Island native was born in 1968.

Amber Lounsbury

Whether coaching practice or a game, working with 7 year-old beginners or 14 year-old middle-schoolers, Coach Lounsbury infects those around her with enthusiasm, energy and a positive attitude.

Amber’s passion for basketball started in junior high, and her successes on the court have continued on until today.

In her most recent stateside coaching position (in Texas), she directed the Friendswood Jr. High Girls Team (8th graders) to the District Championship in 4 of the 5 years she was there. Two of her teams went undefeated.

Amber was a 3-year letter winner at Clear Lake High School in Houston, Texas. She captained her team 2 of those years, and was selected to the All-District team 3 times. She still holds the school’s assist record.

Today, Amber’s favorite part of coaching is watching young kids grow in their sport and as people.

Her philosophy: “coaching at the junior high levels and below should always be about fundamentals, skill development and experience on the court. Everyone should play and get a chance to touch the ball in a game. Kids change and develop so much at the younger ages. I have seen my average 7th grade players grow to become the best on their high school team. Attitude! Opportunity! Team! Practice how you would play in a game.”

Prior to moving to Singapore in July 2007, Amber worked as a marketing specialist in the Oil and Gas industry. She attended Texas State University on a volleyball scholarship. The Texas native was born in 1963 in Friendswood, just south of Houston.
