FastBreak Sends Eight Teams to CBL Finals

May 31, 2009 – Singapore

The FastBreak Basketball Club closed-out the Spring '09 season with its best showing ever.  All eleven FastBreak SAS teams qualified for the CBL play-offs, with eight teams making it through to the finals.  The club was represented in the championship game in 8 of the 9 divisions in which it competed.

FastBreak swept all three Division 1 Boys Finals. In addition, the club brought home five Silver and 2 Bronze medals.

CBL Champions

12&U Boys Division 1
(FastBreak Orange 49 - CCK 43)
In one of the most exciting games of the season, FB Orange defeated CCK 49-43 in an extremely hard-fought contest. The victory was a fantastic group effort.  The series is now even between the two clubs (3-3), who between them, have won all six U12 titles since the inception of the league.

14&U Boys Division 1 (FastBreak Orange 58 – Sharks 43)

FastBreak won their 5th consecutive 14&U title in a physical, fast-paced contest versus the Sharks.  The teams had split their regular season games, each winning by just 2 points.  In the final, foul trouble for the opponents allowed FB to pull away in the 2nd half.  FastBreak was led by it's front-line of Vincent Favati (14 pts.), Jovan Johnson (13) and Andrew Blackmon (12).

Congratulations to all players and coaches on a fantastic season.

In particular, we are excited by the progress of our younger players.  Our Division 2 teams, as well as our U12 Girls Orange were on average, 1 year younger than most of their opponents.  The future is very bright for our developing groups!

Have a great summer. We look forwarding to seeing everyone back in August.
