Making his first trip to the Lion City, the two-time Olympian and former #1 NBA draft pick is coming to promote grass-roots basketball development as a guest of the FastBreak Basketball Club.

The timing of Bogut’s visit is perfect, coinciding with the end of the FastBreak basketball season and the start of the NBA Finals.

To maximize the impact of his visit, FastBreak has organized a full schedule of activity for Bogut’s four-day stopover.

The highlights of his visit will include:

ESPN Media Event

·      June 5, 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 noon

·      ESPN Studio

Bogut’s first full morning will be spent covering the live broadcast of Game 1 of the NBA Finals.  Sports Center host Glenn Connley will interview Andrew before, during and after the game, providing an opportunity for local media to gather first-hand insight and comments from an NBA star.

FastBreak Year End Celebration

Bogut will be on-hand to celebrate FastBreak’s most successful season to date.  Andrew will share his own experiences as a young basketballer, hand-out team awards, sign autographs… Over 300 FastBreak parents and players are expected to be in attendance.

ANDREW BOGUT - BIO

Andrew's strong work ethic during his younger years in Australia paid off well as he developed into a talented player at the international level. At the age of 17, he was named MVP of the 2003 FIBA Junior World Championships, where he led the Australian team to the title, beating the US in the quarterfinals.

In 2005, Andrew was awarded the prestigious Naismith & Wooden awards as the best college basketball player in the USA. This led to Andrew being selected as the first-pick in the 2005 NBA draft by the Milwaukee Bucks. At just 19 he was only the second non-American to be selected No 1 in the NBA draft -- the other being Houston Rockets star Yao Ming of China.

Today, Andrew is considered one of the best passing centers in the NBA. He averaged just over 11 points and 10 rebounds in the 2008/2009 season, before being forced out with a stress fracture in his back. He played with the Australian Men’s National team – the Boomers - at both the 2004 and the 2008 Olympics, as well as at the 2006 World Championships in Japan.

Andrew enjoys interacting with young basketball players and is looking forward to his first trip to Singapore.
