Development Festival at Sharks a Huge Success

This Sunday Fastbreak explored a partnership with another club in Singapore to provide a new experience for all children in our Developmental programs.  Students of the game who typically take part in Fastbreak's Saturday or Sunday Give and Go or Development sessions at both SAS and UWC East came together with participants of the Sharks mini-ball program for a youth basketball development festival!

Those familiar with our development programs know that we dedicate the first hour of 90 minute sessions to fundamental skills before advancing to 4 on 4 game play.   These lessons are designed for newcomers to basketball in grades 1-5 and incorporate a wide range of drills and skills taught through small sided games to encourage a fun first experience with the game of basketball.

On Sunday we were excited to share some of our games and ideas with the coaches and kids from the Sharks' mini ball program at the Australian International School.  For all of the kids in our Development Programs this was their first time playing basketball with and against players from another program giving this day the feel of a "road game."

Kids from both clubs participated in a variety of basketball activities designed to highlight their team and individual skills with trophies awarded to the players for "Most Coachable Player", "Best Listener", "Hustle Award", and "Pressure Shooting."  As you can see in the photo above there were smiles all around from these mini ballers!

Thank you to the Sharks basketball club for hosting this first event.  We look forward to the second Development Festival coming later this spring as the Sharks will travel to East to come together for another round of learning and gameplay.
